About El Centro Resource Center
El Centro Resource Center is a unique and tangible manifestation of Chico State's unwavering commitment to being an exceptional Hispanic-serving institution. Our primary focus is on fostering student success and achieving outstanding Latine student retention. Our mission is to create an empowering and inclusive environment that not only honors heritage and cultivates leadership but also eradicates barriers that hinder students from reaching their full potential. We are here to ensure that Chico State's Latine students survive and thrive on their educational journey. El Centro de Chico State emphasizes three key pillars that directly support student success and retention: Mentoring: Through mentorships that are more than just guidance, knowledge, and a sense of belonging, we aim to ignite a transformative journey for Latine students. This journey is not just about navigating the complexities of higher education; it's about propelling students toward fulfilling their potential and inspiring hope for a brighter future. Community Building : One of our cornerstones is fostering a strong sense of belonging among students. By creating a welcoming and inclusive space where students can connect, share experiences, and find support, the center becomes a vital resource for academic success, personal growth, and cultural enrichment. Career Preparation: At El Centro, we provide comprehensive support for career preparation. We equip Latine students with the tools to unlock their full potential and contribute to a more diverse and successful workforce. Our services, including early career exploration and preparation and access to university career services, are designed to bridge the gap between academics and students' careers.
